Sylvania City, Ohio Inmate Search

In Sylvania, upon arrest, a person is taken to the jail facility where officers collect and record identifying information about the individual, their physical characteristics, an inventory of any personal property of the inmate, fingerprints, and mugshots. The process of retrieving this information by any member of the public is known as an inmate search.

People perform inmate searches to find out whether a person was/is in custody and why. Arrests in Sylvania are usually made by the county sheriff’s office or the Sylvania Township Police Department located at 4420 King Road, Sylvania, OH 43560. Individuals arrested in Sylvania are held at the Lucas County Corrections Center, as the municipality does not operate an independent jail facility. This jail provides a public online repository for inmate searches.

  • Download the PDF file or open it directly in the browser by clicking on the link.
  • Click on the search icon (visible in the top right corner of the screen for desktop users)
  • Enter the first or last name of the inmate
  • Scan through the search results until you locate the person of interest

For any person not found on this roster, contact the jail at (419) 213-4924 for confirmation, as such persons may have been booked in a different facility or released from custody.

What Information is Included in the Sylvania Inmate Roster

Under the Ohio Public Records Act (codified in Section 149.43 of Ohio Revised Code), arrest records are public records, although certain provisions under this law allow for certain details to be withheld from public access, e.g., medical records and trial preparatory records. The county’s online inmate roster features the following information:

  • The inmate’s full name (first, middle, and last names)
  • The name of the arresting agency
  • Arrest date and time—when officers initially apprehended the individual
  • Booking date and time—when they were booked into the jail facility
  • The underlying charges count and the presiding court
  • A description of the charges (e.g., “assault on a correction officer,” “aggravated menacing,” etc.)
  • Mugshot—a head photo of the inmate
  • Custody status—whether the individual is actively in custody or released
  • Release date and time (if the person has been released from custody)

N/B: The online roster features limited information. For a full arrest report, call or visit the sheriff’s office to inspect a physical roster.
